Apple has updated MobileMe to fix some of the issues that have been seen after syncing with FriendSync. There is still a problem of pushing contact images from your iPhone to me.com, but it appears that the changes do stay on the iPhone now and aren't being overwritten.
From Apple:
Resolved an issue that could cause some contacts to temporarily disappear on iPhone or iPod touch when syncing with MobileMe over an intermittent network connection; iPhone Software 2.2 is required to take full advantage of this

The problems with MobileMe and Exchange resetting contact's images is a problem with the iPhone and not FriendSync. Apple has reviewed our code and acknowledged that we are doing everything correctly. They are still investigating the problem.
A workaround is available on our FAQ page to temporarily fix this problem.
Follow the steps below to allow FriendSync to set your contact images without being reset by MobileMe. It requires manually syncing your contacts on the iPhone.
- Turn ON syncing for contacts between your Mac or PC and me.com. This will sync your Mac or PC with me.com. Follow Apple's Instructions for your Mac or Windows PC.
- Turn OFF MobileMe Contact syncing on your iPhone. From the Home screen, go to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Tap your MobileMe account and turn Contacts OFF.
- Sync your Contacts on your iPhone by connecting it to iTunes. Since your Mac or PC is synced with MobileMe, syncing your iPhone manually through iTunes will update your Contacts on your iPhone. When your iPhone is connected to iTunes, click the "Info" tab and check the "Sync contacts with" checkbox, then click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the screen.
- MobileMe will no longer overwrite your Contact's images on your iPhone. When you connect your iPhone to iTunes it will update your Mac or PC and me.com with the image FriendSync downloaded.
Apple Developer Technical Support as said that the issue with MobileMe and Exchange user's pictures being reverted after FriendSync sets them is most likely a bug with MobileMe and the iPhone itself. A bug has been reported to Apple. We will continue to update this page with information as we get it.
Version 1.0.1 has been submitted to Apple and is waiting to be approved. The approval process has typically taken about a week.
